Re: new, with a veiw
In response to the idea that only wealthy individuals will get
into the hobby...come on folks get REAL! Even the INFLATED price
of OUTSTANDING cars, say an MT14M with turntable is only around
$8500 today. This is less than the price of a motorcycle. Open
MT14L's in running condition can still be had for between $2500 to
$4000. MT19's with a fiberglass body can be had for around
$2000. If you can't afford these prices, you're not going to do
many runs what with the cost of food, hotels, gas, event fees,
time off from work, etc. Face it, this is an expensive hobby.
Please stop whining that the country club set is somehow going to
discover speeders and take over the hobby.

What has to be considered here is the limited supply of motorcars
in existence anymore. That number is fixed and will decline over
the years, as track speeders aren't being manufactured anymore,
and limited supply with increasing demand can only drive the price
of existing motorcars higher. While this might seem good for our
individual
pocket books when we ever decide to sell, this fact of life tends
to drive the price of motorcars into the range where only the
wealthier constituents of society can afford to enter the hobby.
