You've put your electronic finger on the basis of some of the negatives
feelings about expansion and new members. Both of these drive up car
prices, which hits people where it hurts - in the pocketbook. There are
plenty of people in the hobby who can remember that only ten years ago,
cars cost $25-$100. Also back then, the railroads were still giving away
speeder parts or selling them at 2 cents on the dollar. 

It's certainly true that the hobby has become significantly more expensive,
but change is inevitable. At least it's still cheaper than owning a
Corvette...............
