Re: train hopping

Scott,
Your comment reminded me of an incident on my backyard
railroad. It is now called the Delaware Valley RR, a designated
operator of the old PRR Octorara Branch. In the final months of the
former DO's (Octoraro Railroad) operation, some of the local juveniles
in the Village of Lincoln University, PA were playing there game of
"train hopping". One young one, about ten years of age, inevitably lost
the game. Reportedly, the railroad and, no doubt, their insurance paid
dearly. I can only guess that some felt that a railroad that passed
through this village for over a hundred years was considered a
nuisance. My feeling: If you can teach a kid to brush his teeth, you
can teach him to stay away from the tracks!
