RE: Fairmont M-19 spring nuts

Back a couple of months ago, I broke a spring on the front axle.  Upon
future examiine, saw the long side was warn at the bearing.  After cleaning
the bearing out, found it was OK but had benn crudded up.  Replaced the axle
and went to put everything together.  Several of the "spring nuts" were
destored or beyonf us.  So I went to the local hardware ctore and and showed
the experienced clerk the part I was missing.  He gave me a "COUPLING".  I
cut it in half and ground down the ridges enough to get into the spring.
Went together much easier than if I had new parts from Fairmont.
