Re: [speeders] Safety
Group:
As some know the original NARCOA Rulebook borrowed heavily
from existing RR rulebook sections on motorcars. One item
omitted was speed limits. The book did note that speed must
be reduced over switches. The account by Mr. Anderson of a
car derailing on a switch and ejecting a rider seemed to
indicate that the car had NOT reduced speed on that switch. I
was not there and do not know for sure.
I have made it a point to reduce speed a lot over switches,
especially facing point switches, and have been rewarded by
being sent to the rear for not keeping up. This is an area
that NARCOA could improve through education.
