Re: [speeders] Safety/Speed
Chuck, for the most part, speed should be determined by the Timetable.
Motorcars should never exceed 30 MPH , for any reason.
You must reduce speed on Curves, Switches, Crossings and any condition that a
reduced speed is necessary for.
The Railroad Sponser should go over that with you prior to a ride. Most
probably, assume, you know because you have a Motorcar.
That might not be the best thing, but the sponser assumes you have some working
knowledge of the Railroad.

Dick's post raises a question for me: On what percentage of the runs
you guys have attended has it been NECESSARY to exceed 20 mph in order
clear the main for a train or to meet other RR schedule requirements?
I believe the vast majority of runs I've been on could have been
completed within the time allowed even if a maximum speed limit of 20
mph had been established. On a few runs such a speed limit might have
resulted in slightly shorter, or fewer, potty/ice cream/photo stops.
What has your experience been?
Best regards to all, Chuck Lee.
